Akwa Ibom State - the Land of Promise with its capital in Uyo has a total of 31 local government areas. The three main spoken languages are Ibibio, Annang and Oron, however, there are 17 other spoken languages in Akwa Ibom State.
Although, there are dialectical differences, the state is described as a uni-cultural state where the traditions, norms and customs are the same. The cultural similarities bind the Akwa Ibomites together especially in such areas as cuisines, songs, dressing, dances, songs, beliefs and myths.
