This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to bridge the educational gap and provide children with the tools they need to excel academically. The students, who are from various schools, received textbooks that will support their learning in two critical subjects—Mathematics and English. With these resources, we aim to foster better understanding, improve performance, and inspire a love for learning in every child. Uyai Akwa Ibom Hosts Ibibio Language Essay Competition to Promote WASSCE Registration and Language Preservation

Uyai Akwa Ibom successfully organised an Ibibio Language Essay Competition for SS3 students across Akwa Ibom State, with participation from 19 secondary schools. The competition was open exclusively to students who registered Ibibio in WASSCE, reinforcing its core objective: to encourage formal examination enrolment in the language and strengthen its long-term preservation. The initiative was designed to promote academic engagement, cultural pride, and structured learning in Ibibio at a critical stage in students’ educational journey.

To reward excellence, cash prizes were awarded — ₦100,000 for first place, ₦75,000 for second place, and ₦50,000 for third place — alongside six consolation prizes of ₦10,000 each. Beyond financial incentives, the competition served as a strategic effort to support indigenous language sustainability in Akwa Ibom State by recognising and investing in young learners who are actively contributing to the preservation of the Ibibio language.
